Legion - Log Cabin B 9-1
Loggers - Monty B 5-5
Ridgebourne AAs - Laughing Dog 6-4
Middleton A - Ridge C men 2-8
the new year saw the monty b show that they can play and stole a draw from last years league contenders Loggers.
the laughing dog made some new signings in the last few weeks but still lost 6-4 to the ever strong ridge AAs.
middy a showed some fight but eventually lost 8-2 the the ever impressive Cmen.
the league leader legion pulled away from the cmen in the league with a shock 9-1 win over the Log B, leon griffiths being the only player to lose for the legion.
we are now officially half way through the season, so there's still lot of time for things to change.
check the tables out.
player of the season is being done but ALOT of sheets missing i know i said i would be strict but there has been some ligitamte excuses but i will try my hardest to get the missing ones in.
but as it stands i know that Wayne Jones and Paul Robinson of the legion are on 100% first half games.
GOOD LUCK for 2010 and make it bloody good one

heres a preview
Abbey Crunchers 6 v 4 Mid Wales B
The Abbey Crunchers hosted Mid Wales B and things started well for the visitors with Tom Evans and Jimbo Griffiths winning 2 out the first 3 frames. The slow start must have ignited a spark in the Crunchers as they won the next 5 games on the bounce to seal the win. The Mid didn’t lie down, Craig Davies and Tom Evans to win the last 2 frames to make it look respectable.
Lion A 4 v 6 Dolfor
The league leaders travelled to The Lion to play the old campaigners and had a great first half with only Gary Bateson registering for the home team. It looked like Dolfor were up for a cricket score but the Lion had different ideas as Gary again, Malcolm Lewis and Ray Thomas won the next 3 frames to level the match at 4v4. Dolfor are made of stern stuff and the experienced brothers, Barry and Nigel Owen (both 2/2) won the last 2 frames to secure the win.
Penybont B 5 v 5 Lion Muppets
It proved to be a closely fought game at The Severn Arms with neither team ever going more than one frame in front. The home team just edged the first half but the Muppets came back strongly after half time to lead the match going into the last frame but Nigel Bufton beat Paul Savage to make sure the teams shared the points. 2/2 for Keith Jones and Steve Carter.
Mid Wales A 4 v 6 Abbey A Holes
The Abbey A Holes are surely the most improved team of the season after securing their 2nd win of the season and getting 2 players inside the top 40. They travelled to play Mid Wales A and got off to a flyer winning the first 4 frames before Steve Hughes (2/2) stopped the rot for the Mid. The come back was short lived as Edwyn Powell and then Liam McKay (2/2) secured the win. Angharad Cullen and Rhydian Davies won the last 2 frames to reduce the deficit.
Sun Boys 2 v 8 New Inn Veterans
The New Inn Veterans were full of praise for the Sun Boys and admitted the result flattered them with Geraint Higginbotham and Josh Morgan singled out for praise as they ensured that they only trailed 3v2 at the half way stage. The Veterans kicked up a gear in the 2nd half as they won all 5 frames. 2/2 for Neil Mitchell, Yogi Hughes and Andrew Powell.
New Inn 4 v 6 Penybont Plonkers
This was a big match for both sides with the teams lying in 2nd and 3rd before the match. Ed Lewis (2/2) got the New Inn off to a good start but the Plonkers won the next 3 games on the bounce. Lee Lello pulled one back but the Plonkers pulled away again as Kevin and John Morris (2/2) made it 5v2. It was too tall and order for the New Inn to comeback and Glyn Lewis made sure the Plonkers went joint 2nd with the New Inn winning the penultimate frame.
News
The New Inn booked their third team in the semi final of the Threesomes with Yogi Hughes, Bryn Lewis & Andrew Powell getting through at The New Inn.

Puppies conquer princes while thongs slip inbetween men and dogs . . . |
 |

Surely the result of the week came in Division One this week, where after only 1 win in their previous 6 matches the Greyhound Puppies turned over the league leaders the Prince Jesters by 6 games to 4. 2/2 performances from Will & Roy Jones means the Puppies move upto 3rd in the table, & now have 2 players in the top 10 of the player averages for the first time this season. Elsewhere in Div 1 the Fountain B team beat the Barley Mawrees 7-3.
After no win in 5 matches, the 7 Stars Tup Enders claimed a much needed victory in Aberedw over the visiting Bell Enders. Captain Dai Roberts (27th) starred with 2/2 for the Bell Vue, but it may be a case of too little too late for the Llanwrtyd boys who are now staring relegation in the face. Terry Davies (28th) and captain Ian Evans (33rd) both weighed in with crucial wins for the Tups.
Up in Howey the Laughing Dog Pro’s claimed their 8th win of the season beating the White horse Ass’s 6-4. Steve Carter’s team are yet to lose a match this season, but with only 4 matches left they are now running out of matches to close the 9 point gap between themselves and the top spot.
After no win in 3, the Fountain Thong Spotters showed great bouncebackability to register a healthy 7-3 win over the visiting Top Guns. Lee Jarvis (11th) marking his return from injury with 2/2.
In Erwood the local derby between the Stick men and Shaft Strokers always promised to be a tight affair, and wins from Kev Lewis(2/2) and Shane Claridge(1/2) meant it was 4-3 at one point before the Erwood team managed to get over the line 7-3 winners.
This week is the last round of matches before the xmas break, so have a good one and I’ll see you next week with the festive round-up. Sam

Wheels off as Ass’s win with bells on . . . |

Wheels off as Ass’s win with bells on . . .
The White Horse Ass’s struck their 2nd victory of the season away to the Belle Vue on Tuesday, the visitors gained a useful 7 points, despite wins from Dai Roberts(32nd) and Phil Gillon(34th) for the hosts.
Meanwhile down in the Fountain the Thongspotters lost heavily at home 8-2 to the visiting Laughing Dog Pro’s. Lee Jarvis was absent for the Thongers after falling of his Rollerskates mid-week, while Dog captain Steve Carter was absent filming porn.
Over in Howey wins from Lee Lello (15th), Graham Hicks(21st) & John G. Lapper(29th) meant the Shaft Strokers fell 3-0 behind to the Top Guns before they found their range & claimed the remaining games to win 7-3.
In Aberedw the most local of local derbies was played out when the Tup Enders hosted the pubs’ other team the Stick Men. In recent history the Stick Men have held the upper hand in meetings between the 2 and this proved no different as the Men won 7-3, after 2/2 performances from moaner Shane Claridge, & the reliable Kevin Lewis. Terry Davies (30th) weighed in with 2/2 for the Tups, who will look to bounce back at home to the Bell Enders this week.
In Division 1 Richard James’ 100 House Inn team did their promotion ambitions no harm at all after they won 8-2 at home to the Fountain B Team, who were previously un-beaten.
2/2 performances from Den Thomson and Mike Price could not be matched by Scruff Griffiths’ Fountain outfit.
This week look out for terrific matches in the Fountain where the Thongers host the Top Guns, and in Erwood, where Lufta Givitter makes his debut for the Stick Men against the Shaft Strokers.

Player of the season returns this week as the problems are getting ironed out.
Dolfor 5 v 5 Penybont B
The league leaders have been impressive so far this season but they didn’t get it all their own way against Phil Ingrams team. Dolfor were ahead 3-2 at the half way stage but Penybont B won 3 of the next 4 games meaning that Russ Evans had to win the last frame to avoid defeat. 2/2 for Russ, Phill Ingram and Karl Lewis.
Abbey A Holes 4 v 6 New Inn Veterans
Erfyl Lewis’ Veterans team managed to overcome an early scare against the A Holes to clinch a narrow victory. James and Dan Price had put the home team into an early lead but the Veterans responded winning the next 3 games. The A holes wouldn’t lie down and squared the match at 4-4 before the father and son due of Erfyl and Bryn Lewis (both 2/2) sealed the win.
Mid Wales B 5 v 5 Lion Muppets
The oldest cliché on the football commentators vocabulary has to be ‘a game of two halves’ well that was never more true than in this match. Mid Wales B are flying at the moment and cruised into a 5-0 lead but that’s were it finished. Steve Carter must have slipped something into the half time oranges as his team fought back and Paul Savage won the last frame against the previously unbeaten James ‘Jimbo’ Griffiths to seal the draw
Penybont Plonkers 5 v 5 Abbey Crunchers
The old heavyweight sparring partners met at The Severn and it proved to be another game of two halves. The Plonkers sailed into a 4-1 lead with only Grum losing for the Crunchers. Just as it looked like the league favourites would succumb to a rare defeat they staged a great comeback to go 5-4 ahead, Barry Bevan was having none of it and won the last frame to earn his team the draw.
New Inn 9 v 1 Mid Wales A
The Mid Wales B look like a different team from last season so far and started well in this one, Angharad Cullen won the first frame but that proved to be the only frame they did win. There were a few close games that could have gone either way but every time the New Inn managed to get across the line first. A 7 baller from the break from Ed Lewis and Shaun Hopkins overcoming his black’itus were the highlights of the night!
Lion A 7 v 3 Sun Boys
It appears that the Sun Boys have set their side up more for the consumption of beer than pool, I say if you can’t get steaming in Llanbadarn League where can you get steaming! Roly Jones’ Lion A team were impressive all the same as Roly and Gary Bateson both won 2/2 to spearhead the win. Geraint Higginbotham after making his debut last week, then writing his car off won 2/2 for the away side.

Terrific top three too tantalisingly tight . . . |
 |
Division 1 is proving to be a very tight league indeed, with exciting matches between evenly matched teams nearly every week. Week 6 was no exception when the Fountain hosted the Greyhound Puppies. After 6 games Scruff Griffiths’ team held a 4-2 advantage, before the in-form Tristan Claridge(3rd) and then Gary Goodwin(15th) both won to clinch the match. Hayley Simcox’s Pupps team fought back well though, and won the last 2 through Roy(31st) and Will Jones(6th). With the Jesters notching an identical 6-4 win in 100 House, Scruff Griffiths team sit on top of the table, while both the 100 House and Cilmery teams could go top with their game in hand, while both Neil Wozencraft and Dave Beaven lead their teams’ promotion charges with an excellent 7/8 apiece, making them joint top of the Division One averages.
In the Prem Division there were some hefty wins and losses. In Howey the Laughing Dog Pro’s won 9-1, with Justin Bishop(15th) winning 2/2 for only the 2nd time this season, as the Bell Enders’ miserable run continued.
After 2 straight losses, the 7 Stars Stick Men’s revival continued in Aberedw as they beat a very competent Top Guns side 6-4 in a tough match. Edd Gray winning twice to move up to 9th in the player averages, while Shaun Hopkins(41st) miserable run continued to 2/12.
Over in Erwood, the 7 Stars Tup Enders came up against an Erwood team looking to bounce back from a poor performance the week before. The Tupps never really looked comfortable in the match, and having slipped 5-0 behind, only Chris Morris(10th) could offer any resistance in the 2nd session as the Erwood team ran out 9-1 winners, Phil Davies(4th) winning twice for the 4th time in 6 matches.
Meanwhile in the White Horse the Thong Spotters kept up their impressive title challenge with a comprehensive 9-1 victory of their own over the Ass’s. The Thongers have in-form players contributing from all angles, with Kevin Hughes (18th) and Chris Williams (12th) both putting wins on the board. See you next week when the season reaches the halfway point. . .

Lee is still ironing out a few problems with the player of the season, Llyr Thomas and Jimbo Griffiths lead the way with 6 wins from 6 frames.
Please could the Sun Boys write their full names down just this week. And to everybody else, if you have a new player please write down their full name the first time they play.
New Inn 5 v 5 Penybont B
This was an odd match with both teams winning games in spurts! Penybont had a 2 frame lead twice in the match at 3-1 and 5-3 but both times The New Inn came back with Graham Hicks and Shaun Hopkins winning the last 2 frames to claim the draw, 2/2 for Mark Bevan and Lee Lello in the match.
Lion A 3 v 7 Abbey Crunchers
It was a cracking win last week for Lion A but this week proved to be tougher against the ever solid Crunchers. It was fairly close until Grum, Shaun Payne and John Jones won the final 3 frames to make the victory look comfortable.
Dolfor 7 v 3 Lion Muppets
The Lion Muppets have a fairly strong team but Dolfor look like real challengers and they got in front early on and kept the lead throughout the match. Llyr Thomas and Matt Boore both had 2/2 for their respective teams.
Penybont Plonkers 8 v 2 New Inn Veterans
The New Inn Veterans buoyed by the victory the following week travelled to Penybont. The New Inn and Penybont tables couldn’t be more contrasting and the Veterans really struggled with the pace of the cloth. Yogi Hughes and Neil were the only ones to win as the experienced Plonkers won the match with Barry Bevan, John Morris and Gareth Rees all claiming 2/2.
Abbey A Holes 3 v 7 Mid Wales B
The Mid Wales B have had an impressive start to the season and continued where they left off last week charging into a 4-0 lead. The A Holes won 3 out of the next 4 frames before Marc Evans and Craig Davies sealed the match.
Mid Wales A 6 v 4 Sun Boys

Week 2 Results Llandod |
 |
Log B 1-9 Ridgebourne Cmen
Ridge AAs 3-7 Loggers
Hampton 4-6 Middy
Monty B 5-5 Laughing Dog
Legion 9-1 Montpellier
some intresting results there cmen winning 9-1 losing the last frame with ken saunders teh only winenr for the log b, but i saw the last 3 and the log b could have had all them so could have been a very different result.
legion showed new team from the monty how to play, with also a 9-1 win, but the new team showed a lot of talent and will be intresting how they improve
im not quite sure what happend at the hampton as i had a text saying score was 5-3? so need to confirm that.(confirmed it as 6-4) and the 5-5 draw at the monty was actually played at the dog after a lighing failure!!
loggers bounced back from last week loss to beat the experinced AAs 7-3
the new rule on bonus points (no mre bonus points) seems have made things very intresting and has had only positive comments.
good luck

Thongs wriggle out of tight spot while jesters are laughing. . . . |
 |
The Premier league had its first draw last week, when the Thong Spotters played out a 5-5 draw away to the Top Guns. The Thongers though slipped to 4-0 down before they launched the comeback. New signing Leroy Smith starred for the Top Guns with 2/2, while Jake Bayliss continues to thrash out personal terms as he negotiates his switch to the Laughing Dog Pro’s, a move which is currently vetoed by manager Lee Lello.
Meanwhile in Llanwrtyd the Tup Enders picked up their 2nd win in 3 games when they beat league strugglers the Bell Enders. Captain Dai Roberts will look to inspire a change in fortunes for his team this week though, when the Bell Enders host the Thongspotters.
Elsewhere in the Prem Division, there were wins for the Laughing Dog Pro’s over the White Horse (7-3), and also for the Erwood Shaft Strokers who beat Aberedw rivals the Stick Men 7-3 away, despite a classy 2/2 from Shane Claridge.
In Division one the Prince Jesters hosted the Greyhound Puppies. The Jesters continued their bright return to league pool this season, notching up their first win, beating the Puppies 8-2. Evergreen Pupps captain Hayley Simcox would have been heartened by some very close games though, and will look for another win when they travel to the Fountain on November 3rd.
In the other Div 1 match, Scruff Griffiths’ team registered their 2nd draw in 2 matches when they hosted the Barley Mawrees. A decent result for both teams though, which leaves them in touching distance of the promotion places. See you next week. . .
